If we have to describe Purple Dragon's success in 2011, it was most successful. It will be a fantastic Purple Dragon evening of fun.  The Barataria Dojo will host yet another exciting Purple Dragon boat cruise on board the First Lady. Members, friend and supporters will enjoy an evening of food, friendship, fun, and dance.  The boat "First Lady" will be docked at the Tsunami club, Anchorage Compound in Chaguaramas.   Boarding time:  TBA and Sailing time: TBA p.m. Cruise time:  TBA.  People fifteen years and over may attend.  Ticket price soon to be announced along with other exciting details.  Watch for more updates!

2011 Special Black Belt Training!

 

February 30th 2011:

 

Over 80 Black Belts and Brown Belts attended the first Sunday classes at headquarters taught by Professor Don  Jacob. Successfully completed.

 

Black Belt training for the Month of March through August was another Big Success. 

 

We worked on the power of a side kick, fighting from off the floor, and our motivational lecture was on the "Power of Expectation".

Sunday Black Belt training was a very special event for ALL Black Belts.  We commemorated the one year anniversary for Professor Jacob receiving one of Trinidad and Tobago's highest national honors:

After an inspiring Black Belt training session with over 220 Black Belts in attendance, Professor was honored and enjoyed a delicious dinner along with the many Black Belts, friends and family members of Purple Dragon who attended .  Successfully completed!

March 19th, 2011 Boat ride. 

 

An exciting fund-raiser boat cruise down the islands to raise funds toward the China Tour in July 2011 organized by the Arima Dojo.  Thank you to the five hundred people who came to support Purple Dragon!

A fund-raiser for the China Tour by the Chaguanas Dojo was a tremendous .

April 9th, 2011 Rioseco Waterfall Hike.

 

Thanks to all members and friends who went on the Rioseco Waterfall Hike with the Tunapuna Dojo in order to send Sensei Kamau travel to China with the Purple Dragon team.  If interested in the next hike, please call Sensei Kamau Drayton at 794-8190 or 792-7788 (cell).  The cost was: 100.00 TT per person and was a fun fitness walk and bus ride.  Next year food and refreshment  will be on sale for next year's exciting trail hike.  Members of the public are WELCOME.  Bring your hiking shoes, dress appropriately for the hike, and join the fun for 2012!

 April, 16th. 2011 Face the Dragon.

 

Many students came out to spar with Sensei Derrick Timothy in an electrifying 160 rounds of thirty second sparring at the Barataria Headquarters.  Many people walked with their sparring gear and paid TT$100.00 to spar with Sensei Derrick Timothy for 30 seconds and some even paid $200.00 to spar for 1 minute.  This special event at the Barataria Headquarters was able to send Sensei Timothy to China along with Professor Jacob and the team of twenty eight from five countries to visit many educational sites including the Shaolin Temple, Great Wall of China and many more to name a few!

May 21st, 2011  Purple Dragon Barataria will be hosting "Family Day" at the Hasely Crawford Stadium 

 

The Chief Justice along with the a representative from the Mayor's office was in attendance.  Everyone had a fun day with the Purple Dragon family.  There were Track and Field events, march competition, food booths, with lots of fun for the kids and adults alike. June 25, 2011 Purple Dragon Arima Cricket Match

 

The Arima Purple Dragon hosted the second annual Cricket competition.  All the local branches were in attendance and it was overseen by the Trinidad and Tobago Wind Ball Association.   There was food, healthy drinks, lots of laughter, and a great day was enjoyed by everyone.

July 10-23, 2011 - The China Tour 2011

 

With high expectations, the Purple Dragon team of twenty eight members from five countries, flew into China. 

From the moment the team arrived in Beijing until the tour ended in Shanghai, it was exciting and educational and one that will be hard to replicate.  The historical sites were amazing from the Forbidden City, Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Shaolin Temple, the Olympic Bird's Nest, the incredible six thousand Terra Cotta soldiers, Longman Buddhist carvings and the list goes on.  It was an incredible journey that took us into an exotic and mysterious land that engulfed the senses and dazzled the mind with years of ancient history brought into a now modern world of China.  This extraordinary experience was due to Professor Jacob's ability to bring people together internationally to learn and explore the world.  The trip was outstanding and such a success that the team plans to travel to Japan in 2013.  Mark your calendars as this will once again prove to be another trip of a lifetime!

August 20th, 2011 - Barataria Karaoke Night at the Dojo

 

The evening was full of fun, food, and music.  Purple Dragon is filled with talent and it showed Saturday night.  Congratulations to Instructor Perez who won!  Thank you also to the Parent Action Committee for another great job!  Due to the success and talent from the evening's event, watch for upcoming news on a special talent search with the finalists, from within Purple Dragon, to appear at the Purple Dragon Formal Ball on Saturday, December 17th, 2011 to vie for a cash prize.

October  22nd, 2011  7th Annual Self-Defense Seminar

 

       Sponsored by Tunapuna Branch

 

Special techniques and vital self defense moves for personal safety was the main focus of this year's special seminar.   The instruction was  by  Shihan Anthony Thompson and Professor  Don Jacob.    Youth, single Parent, Families , and friends came to the seminar.  It was an empowering workshop for all in attendance, it was the seventh year and was well organized. The  special Bo-Staff instructional training session taught by Shihan Thompson was just lots of fun and interaction with students and parents.  When Professor Jacob started his class every one stand and sang Happy birthday, The Eastern Regional Complex on Orange Grove Road in Tacarigua  was  rocking from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The Donation was just  $60.00 for Purple Dragon members and $100.00TT for non-members and the general public. First Aid and CPR course.  

 

In 2011 there will be several First Aid and CPR courses conducted for Purple Dragon Branches.  Be sure to attend when the  second course is offered at your Purple Dragon Dojo!

 

The course is mandatory for all Purple Dragon Black Belts sixteen years and over especially the Purple Dragon Branch Operators.  Parents are also welcome to inquire and participate. This is a certification course. The last course was   Completely sold out !
