champion in various fighting forms - e.g.
emphatic weaponry and multiple demonstrations.

Shihan Anthony Thompson, 7th Dan
Black Belt has been studying the Don Jitsu
Ryu over thirty-five (35) years under Purple Dragon.
Shihan Thompson has travelled extensively to
many parts of Canada, United Kingdom, Hawaii,
Australia, India, Africa, Nepal, the USA and
the Caribbean Islands teaching the Don Jitsu
Ryu.
He has competed at many major All Styles Championships.
He was the 1994 World NBL self-defense champion
in the traditional division. He was also
one of the first Trinidadians to be inducted
into the World Martial Arts hall of Fame in
Akron Ohio USA. Shihan Thompson currently
operates the Purple Dragon Arima branch in
Trinidad. He conducts courses in Yoga, Karobics,
Self-Defense,
Weaponry and Aikido.

Shihan Neal Hewitt, 6th Dan Black Belt
has been with Purple Dragon for more than
thirty (30) years. He conducts classes
in Belmont and Diego Martin. He has been
producing many Champions and he has traveled to Australia, Canada,
England and U.S.A. and throughout the Caribbean Teaching
, Competing, and Assisting.

 Sensei
Ludwin Jacob, senior 5th Dan Black Belt
has been training in the Don Jitsu Ryu
system of Martial Arts for over thirty (30)
years. He was the youngest person ever to
obtain a Black Belt in Trinidad and Tobago
in the 1970’s. He is the nephew of Prof. Don
Jacob.
He has traveled to many parts of the World
as an ambassador, to conduct seminars and
attend workshops. He conducts courses in Yoga,
Karobics, Self-Defense and Weaponry.
He was the captain of the awesome Trinidad
Super Stars team and the Firing Squad. On
numerous occasions he led his Trinidad Team
to victory.

Sensei Wayne Pollard, 5th Dan Black Belt
has been with Purple Dragon for more than
thirty
(30) years. He currently teaches at the Diego Martin Branch. He is
a veteran Competitor and the official Dojo Photographer,
and runs a parent fitness program at the Diego
Martin branch , we are now open to new memberships
for fitness classes. Sensei
Pollard is one of the loyal Purple Dragon
members who has stayed consistently with the
organization over the years. He travelled to
Canada, the US and the Cayman Islands to train and compete.

 Sensei
Edwin Reid, 4th Dan Black Belt has been
training with Purple Dragon for over twenty
(20) years and assists at Purple Dragon World
Head Quarters with, Aikido and Don
Jitsu Ryu. Sensei Edwin Reid originally
joined Purple Dragon to support his two young
sons, who eventually became black belts.
He was a Team member of the T&T team that
won in the Canadian Grand Slam 2007
Even though he is well over 50 years of age
he is an active competitor in the Masters
Division. He travels overseas as a member
of the examination board.

Sensei Derrick Timothy, 4th Dan Black
Belt, has been studying the martial arts for
over 20 years and helps to run classes at
World Headquarters. He started training
in Purple Dragon when he was only 13 years
old, and has risen to become one of the top
Senseis in the organization. Like other Purple Dragon Senseis he has produced
many champions during his teaching career.

Sensei John Hoyte, 4th Dan Black Belt,
has been with Purple Dragon for over 20 years
and is known for his flexible legs. He competed
in several countries on the Purple Dragon
team. He is one of the assistants to Professor
Don Jacob at the World Headquarters Dojo.

has been Instructed by Shihan Anthony Thompson.
He is an NBL World Self-Defense champion and

to compete on the Purple Dragon Team. He
is a former US Open World Champion 2005 and
2009.
His
performance was featured on ESPN sports.
He is a 2007 Canadian Grand Slam
Champion. He has
been in martial arts for over 20 years and

Port of Spain and Belmont

 Sensei Rosemarie Thomas,
4th Dan Black Belt has been studying in
Purple Dragon for more than 17 years.
She specializes in women’s Self Defense and Karate. She is also a marathon runner. She travels locally and overseas to do public
speaking and conduct classes for Purple Dragon.
She conducts her classes in the sister island
of Tobago. She was a Team member of the T&T
team that won the Canadian Grand Slam 2007
and Cayman Grand Slam 2008.

Joyce Monroe, 4th Dan Black Belt, Trained
under Shihan Anthony Thompson. She is a
Purple Dragon Sensei, a School teacher by profession
and a proud mother.  She runs
a dojo in the Malabar Bon Air West Community

than 20 years and enjoys working with young

Sensei Kamau Drayton, 3rd Dan Black Belt
started in Purple Dragon before he was 14
years old and has since worked his way to

instructors and competitors in Purple Dragon.
He has traveled to represent his Team and
country in the US, Venezuela, Canada and Caribbean
Islands. Sensei Kamau has competed in
World Championships and regularly travels
to assist Purple Dragon overseas. He

was a finalist at the US open World

is a fulltime martial arts and fitness instructor,

Matthew St. Martin, 3rd Dan Black Belt
runs the Carenage branch of the Purple
Dragon. Sensei Matthew enjoys competing in full
contact or continuous competitions.
Sensei Mathew was a runner up at the US open
World championship 2005. His biggest
inspiration in the martial arts is working
with young people on the Dojo. Sensei
Matthew is known as 'The Gentle
Giant". The Gentle Giant currently holds the
American Federation World Heavy Weight Title
which he won in Venezuela. He travels to the
US, and Canada to accompany Professor with
his seminars.

Remembering
The late Sensei Antonio Jacob, 3rd
Dan Black Belt. He was the younger son of
Professor Don Jacob. He was born Sept. 6th
1983 and died December 24 2002. He was
introduced to the martial arts at the age of
three,
attended high school and taught at World Head
Quarters and other Purple Dragoon branches
around the world. He competed in World and major international
games. Sensei Antonio Jacob won the Junior
World SKI Continuous Sparring Championship
in December 2001.

Natalie Sankar, 3rd Dan Black Belt is one
of the top female competitors in the country
and assists at the Arima Dojo with the
Don Jitsu Ryu, fitness and Yoga classes.
She was the winner of the 1999 World NBL Forms
Championships which was held in Canada, Sensei Natalie
was a runner up at the US open World championship
